About Green Expo

Green Expo is the regional platform for showcasing progress toward net zero across the North West and North Wales, connecting innovators, investors, and policy makers.

The awards span nine categories across energy, the built environment, transport, commerce, industry, learning, community engagement, and inward investment. Entries are judged by an expert panel in a rigorous multi-stage process.

Record field

A record number of entries were received this year, narrowed from ten shortlisted organisations down to six finalists.

Dragons' Den session

Finalists faced a Dragons' Den-style challenge from RTC North specialists on robustness, scalability, and commercial impact.

RenSolv selected as winner

The Innovation in Energy Award was presented to RenSolv by Chris Witte, Head of Corporate Affairs at EA Technology.

What we showcased

Our submission showcased RenSolv’s work on combining power systems engineering with AI-enabled digital tools to help renewable, storage and low-carbon developers understand grid constraints earlier, de-risk connection offers and reduce time spent iterating designs.

Why this matters

The evening at Chester Town Hall was an opportunity to reflect on the broader skills and people dimension of the transition. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Averil Macdonald OBE, DSc, DUniv, FRSA, Emeritus Professor at the University of Reading and a leading advocate for science communication, diversity, and inclusion in STEM. Her message on building a diverse talent pipeline for green energy careers resonated strongly with us: the future of the grid will be shaped as much by people and skills as by technology and infrastructure.

We are grateful to Jane Harrad-Roberts and the entire Green Expo team for curating an event that shines a light on what is already working in our region, from community initiatives to industrial decarbonisation, and connects innovators with the partners needed to scale. We would also like to thank the judges, RTC North, EA Technology, and all of the fellow finalists for the challenge and the inspiration.

For RenSolv, this award is both recognition and motivation. It validates our belief that better grid intelligence, delivered earlier in the project lifecycle, can unlock more low-carbon generation and storage onto the system. We will continue to work with developers, network operators, and investors to turn that belief into practical tools and projects, helping accelerate the UK's journey towards a cleaner, more flexible, and resilient power system.
